European Heritage Days 2009: Top 10 Roman Sites and Events Around Italy
“European Heritage Days are being held in all European countries during September as part of English Heritage’sHeritage Open Days programme of events. In England, events run from 10th to 13th September, at sites across the country, including plenty of Roman sites. Italy has chosen the last weekend in September to make its splash with over 1,500 monuments and sites expected to attract thousands of visitors.”
“While some famous attractions will be opening their doors for free on that weekend, there are many lesser-known villas, forums, museums and archaeological sites that might need a bit of extra promotion, just so that they get the attention they actually deserve. A vast selection of guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, meetings and lectures have been organized for the 26th and 27th of September, expressly for the purpose of getting the public involved with some of Italy’s cultural heritage.”
